Goodnight Mister Tom | Penguin Children's Book Cover Competition Entry
Brief
To design a book cover for the children’s story Goodnight Mister Tom that had a modern day appeal and still communicated the story in an instance.
Solution
The cover presents the two homes of William Beech, one of terror and neglect and the other filled with love and care. The spine features an image of a belt that was used by Willie’s mother to create fear in Willie. In the story it provided insight to Mister Tom and the reader of William’s abusive past I have incorporated the belt into my design to create a visual divide between the two locations.
